Beagl is good and friendly to everyone and is not a good choice for a guard, although he can howl like a siren when someone unknown appears, he loves family and children and gets along with other dogs and cats.

Beagle is one of the most loved and famous pets.
It has lovely expressive eyes, long drooping ears and an erect tail with a white tip.
Its coat is short and tricolor, usually dominated by white and various shades of brown.
Beagle is an energetic, carefree and optimistic dog and one of the most popular pets of active owners. It is a wonderful companion and an excellent family dog if properly socialized and trained. He was bred to be in a pack and gets along well with other dogs and even cats.
In the FCI standard, the beagle is in group VI (Hounds, hunters by blood and related breeds), under number 161.

History of the beagle breed
The breed was originally bred in England, where the beagle was a rabbit hunting hound. Rich Englishmen owned packs of these dogs in the 16th century. During the reigns of King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I there were curly-coated beagles. Some were so small they could be carried in a hunting jacket pocket! Over the years, the beagle "grew up", but sometimes smaller dogs appear in litters, the so-called. "Pocket Beagles".
Over time, the breed reached other parts of the world, and the American Kennel Club recognized it in 1885. The beagle became a comic book and cartoon hero like Snoopy. US President Lyndon B. Johnson had several beagles when he was in the White House. Today, the US Department of Agriculture uses beagles to detect contraband in luggage.

Physical characteristics
Beagles are compact, strong and sturdy dogs. They come in two varieties: those that grow to a maximum height of 13 cm and those that measure between 33 and 38 cm at the withers.
Their weight is from eight to 14 kg, depending on their height.
The Beagle has a long, square muzzle, long drooping ears with rounded tips, and large, expressive hazel or chestnut eyes. Their tails are set high.
Their coat is medium-long and hard, and can be seen in a variety of colors, including the traditional tricolor, lemon and white, red and white, chocolate, yellow and white... and it comes in a variety of shades and patterns.

Beagle temperament
Beagle is a true friend, a gentle dog with a stable character. He gets along with other dogs and works well in a pack, so it's natural that he considers his family to be his pack as well. That is why they are an excellent choice for families, couples, but also for singles. Beagles enjoy the outdoors, where they can use their sniffing abilities and chase rodents. He is a bad choice for a guard because he is friendly to everyone. However, he can "pass" as "security", because he can howl in high tones. He is very musical and likes to "sing" to sounds he hears outdoors, like car horns.
It is also known for its stubbornness, which makes training difficult. This is related to his selective hearing, so the owner cannot distinguish whether the dog is ignoring him or not hearing him.

The Beagle is also a determined dog: once it smells any scent, it will have a hard time calming down until it finds its source. So keep him on a leash when he's outside, otherwise he might run away.
Destructiveness is his weakness if you don't give him a chance to release the accumulated energy. It requires a lot of exercise and time outdoors. He is prone to separation anxiety and can howl and bark a lot when he is alone. In addition, they will destroy things and objects in the home.
Early training is very helpful in establishing a good relationship with the beagle. Be consistent and personable when it comes to training this dog. In addition to patience and love, bring in training and fun, because beagles lose attention quickly.

Care and health
It does not take much time to groom a beagle. A good bath will remove dander, dust and stale oil that lubricates the coat and skin: if it stays on the dog for a long time, it takes on an unpleasant smell. Use a moisturizing shampoo or conditioner to prevent the oil from completely stripping the coat and drying out the infection-prone skin.
Daily brushing is not necessary. Apply nail trimming, teeth cleaning and checking the cleanliness of the ears occasionally.
The life span of a Beagle is 10 to 15 years. This dog is prone to obesity, because it eats everything that is offered to it. Along with a well-balanced diet, it is necessary to give him daily exercise in order to maintain a healthy weight.

Of the diseases to which the beagle is prone, the most famous are luxations (dislocations), glaucoma, epilepsy, central progressive retinal atrophy, hypothyroidism, cherry eye, keratoconjunctivitis, deafness, cataracts, hemophilia, spinal disc diseases...
That is why it is very important to get a beagle puppy from a reputable and responsible kennel.
