If the aquarium water is green, you have a problem with algae, if it is white - bacteria "bloom" in it, and if it is yellow or gray, you did not wash the aquarium well
Goldfish are quiet and interesting animals, they are not expensive and do not take up much space, so it is not surprising that they are such a popular choice of pets for children and novice owners.
But what do you do if you wake up one morning and discover that the water in which the goldfish resides has turned dangerously cloudy? You should not panic, because there is a "cure" for cloudy water!
Why does the water in the aquarium where the goldfish lives become cloudy?
Bad accommodation
If you keep your goldfish in an ordinary bowl, replace the bowl with a smaller aquarium: keeping a goldfish in a bowl is a bad practice for some aquarists, because the fish is cramped in it.
In 2003, the city council of Monza in Italy passed a decree banning citizens from keeping goldfish in bowls, citing "poor oxygen levels in the water". However, this is only one of the reasons not to keep the fish in a bowl. An ordinary goldfish can grow up to 25cm, and a small container will definitely not be a good home.
The color of the water
The color of the water can indicate the source of this change: if the water is green, you probably have an algae problem, if it is white (like frosted glass), bacteria are "blooming" in the aquarium, and if it is yellow or gray, you probably did not wash the aquarium well.
Excessive growth of algae
If green deposits appear on the walls of the aquarium, it is algae, so add fish or snails to the water that feed on them. Eliminate algae from the aquarium and move it out of direct sunlight. If this does not solve the problem, turn on the UV light for them.
Bacterial growth
If bacteria are to blame for cloudy water in the aquarium, you need to find a product that will eliminate them, usually a broad-spectrum antibiotic. Sometimes it can take several weeks for the water to clear.
Filter and water change
If the aquarium water is dirty, clean the filter and do a partial water change. The water change schedule will depend on the size of the aquarium, the number and species of fish, and how well your filter works.
Overfeeding
If you are a novice goldfish owner, you may be feeding it too much: excess uneaten food will definitely cloud the water in the aquarium and become an excellent breeding ground for bacteria. Food passes through the body of goldfish quickly, so feed them small meals, several times a day, instead of feeding them a lot of food.
